RV Storage Cost by State (2026)
The median RV storage rate in the United States is $65 to $150 per month, based on 1,631 verified prices at RV-accepting facilities across 1,188 cities in 47 states. What you actually pay is set mostly by your state and your storage type. State medians run from $45 a month in the cheapest well-sampled states to $90 in the most expensive, and moving from an open lot to a covered space or an enclosed bay is what takes you to the top of that range.
How this index is built
Rates come from facilities in our directory that both accept RVs and publish a real monthly price. Our directory lists 5,609 RV-accepting facilities, of which 1,631 publish a price, and that priced subset is the entire sample used here. For each state we report the median entry rate (the median across facilities of each facility's own cheapest advertised monthly rate) and the median top rate (the same, for each facility's most expensive advertised space), and we only publish a state once at least 5 priced facilities support it, which is 43 of 47 states. Because the top rate tracks a facility's largest or most protected space, it can sit far above the entry rate wherever several facilities in a state advertise big enclosed or premium spaces. New Hampshire, at $49 to $619 on 8 facilities, is the widest such spread in the table. Verified here means the rate is one the facility itself publishes, not an estimate or a modelled figure. We do not audit facilities, so rates are as reported and reflect standard monthly spaces, not per-foot or seasonal contracts. Last audited August 2026. Our combined boat and RV rate index uses a wider sample and a city-level method, so its state figures are not directly comparable with the RV-only medians here.
Most expensive states (25+ priced facilities)
Florida, Minnesota, Texas, California, Washington. Florida and Minnesota both sit at a $90 median entry rate, roughly 38 percent above the national median. Smaller-sample states in the table below can read higher still, Montana at $100 from 15 facilities being the clearest.
Cheapest states (25+ priced facilities)
New York, Idaho, Alabama, Michigan, Louisiana. New York has the lowest median entry rate of the well-sampled states at $45 per month. New Jersey, Maryland and Connecticut read lower in the table but rest on 5 to 15 facilities each.
RV Storage Cost by State (43 States)
Median monthly RV storage rates per state. The entry rate is the median of each facility's cheapest advertised space, the top rate the median of its most expensive. The facilities column is the priced sample behind each row, so you can judge how much weight a state deserves.

RV Storage Cost by Type
Your state range above sets the baseline, the type sets how far above it you land. Note that these four ranges are typical national market ranges, not medians from the priced sample above: our price data sits at the facility level, and a facility that offers four storage types publishes one cheapest rate, so a per-type median computed from it would be misleading.
| Storage type | Monthly cost |
|---|---|
| Outdoor / Uncovered | $50 to $150 |
| Covered / Canopy | $75 to $250 |
| Indoor / Enclosed | $150 to $500 |
| Climate Controlled | $200 to $600 |
How RV Size Changes the Price
Campervan / Class B (under 22 ft)
Fits a standard parking space at most facilities, so it is usually charged the base rate.
Travel trailer (22 to 30 ft)
The most common size band. Sits at or just above the base rate on an outdoor lot.
Fifth wheel (30 to 40 ft)
Needs an oversize space. Expect the upper half of your state range, and confirm the turning radius on site.
Class A motorhome (35 to 45 ft)
Priced at the top of the range, and often quoted per foot rather than as a flat rate. Indoor bays that clear 13 ft 6 in of height are the scarce item.
Facilities that quote per foot rather than per space usually switch to it above roughly 30 ft. Ask for both numbers: for a shorter rig the flat rate is often cheaper.
